What are the laws for “on call”, specifically for acute dialysis? Are we supposed to be paid hourly and is there a minimum pay for on call?
I suppose it depends on location. I have been doing acute HD at a major medical center for 15 years. Have always been paid time and a half for call back.
Laws vary by state defined labor regulations. Not all of these details are spelled out in the labor laws, although acute RN responsibilities general put them in the hourly category.
Whether or not you get paid hourly would depend on your facility as is for on call pay. I’ve gotten as little as $2.50 per hour for on call, then an actual decent hourly rate when I’m called in.
Here in Michigan where i work as an acute HD rn, we get paid $3-$4/ hr waiting on standby....but once u get a call back its a little over few cents of time and a half.
I’m sure varies from state to state but it should be 1/2 time on call and 1 1/2 time if called in.
