What is the difference in dynamic from working at a hospital setting oncology infusion center vs a DaVita dialysis center? Previously a Preop/Pacu RN. We also do infusions but generally blood products.
First it would depend on what state u work on the patio ratio, next each clinic is set up differently. The workflow is different. I worked for the other dialysis center in Atlanta, Ga. The center where I worked I had to set up my own machine. Had four patients one every fifteen minutes. Then repeated this process throughout my shift. I worked with a LPN who passed the PO meds. The clinic held 20 patients so they were all my responsibility to do the assessments, & documentation, etc. Another clinic down the street where I trained had 20 patients but the staff was set up differently. They had two RN & one LPN working at the same time. Needless to say I would never do it again. I was told I would only have 10 patients with two patients to run, & the Tech would set up my machines. Nope, I had to set-up, tx, clean the machines & repeat. The pay wasn’t that good either. The only pro was No Sundays or Holiday work days.
