Just start applying to those jobs that fall within your areas of interest. I left Dialysis and went to Home Health, then Woundcare, and from there to Day Surgery. Now I'm in the OR. The sky is the limit and due to the extreme nursing shortage many areas that would have typically been hard to get into have become easier.
I went from dialysis to a vascular access center that focused on interventions for graphs and fistula. We also did dialysis catheters. You get to see why blood pump speed is low or why you hear that high/pitched bruit. Things just made sense to me when I saw what was going on inside the access. After working there for a few years I was able to get into interventional radiology. One last thing, if you don’t have your ACLS, get it. Youll need it.
PLASMA CENTER NURSE. THEY HAVE MACHINES VERY SIMILAR TO DIALYSIS AND PREFER TO HIRE DIALYSIS NURSES.
