How can I get into a hospital? Preferably with continuing education and wound program. I have been working in a skilled nursing facility full time for 7 years now (4 as LPN, 3 as RN Supervisor). I’m looking for career advancement.
I have been a nurse for many years practicing in several different areas. Wound care has been scattered throughout my career but, when I did some time in a wound care clinic, I learned a truck load. There are many varieties of dressings, what & when to apply, venous vs arterial dressings, compression and NPWT. I was considerably more prepared and employable when it was time to take my practice to an acute hospital setting. The clinic setting has the ability to do the training as well.
Just apply! Hospitals are in great need for your experience. Have confidence in your background and what you have to offer, it is huge. The opportunities will grow from there. Good luck and go for it!
Try nursing executive in office management
Many of the bigger hospitals around me have floating wound team nurses and you can look for those jobs posted. A lot of times they will let you work prior to the certification but you have to pass the test working x amount of time.
There was a unit at the county(teaching/learning institution who provided instruction.
