I’m a 70 y/o retired psychiatric RN BSN, I worked for 30 years in a psychiatric and drug rehab hospital, I’m considering a part time job as a school Nurse or in Hone care. Does anyone have experience in the above and can advise if it’s a good idea.

To be honest, I do not think being in a school setting would be a good fit for you since you do not have pediatric experience (by what you have provided above). School nursing is extremely autonomous, school nurses are asked to treat so many issues including feeding tubes, medicall fragile and complex children, medication dosing, and the nurses are often responsible for several schools due to budget. Many states require certification as a school nurse. You have amazing and in demand experience as a psych nurse. What abut prn work as a psych nurse in a treatment facility that treats adolescents? That would provide some pediatric experience and also use the skills you have honed for 30 years to help others.
