I'm looking to transfer my Nevada license to NY and I'm having great difficulty. Is there anyone with experience doing this or willing to lend some of their time to help me out?? Thanks for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day :)

I recently transferred my RN license from NY to SC and had no problems.

You will need to get in contact with the state education department for the state you are transferring to and request to speak with the Nursing division for that state. They, in turn, will send you out all of the paperwork you will need to do the transfer with specific instructions to follow. Every state has different requirements. Be sure to inquire as to what their requirements are.

Good luck to you.

You can’t necessarily transfer your license to NY as it’s not a compact state. You have to go through the process of getting it endorsed and apply for an actual license.

I had an easy time obtaining my NY RN license.Orignal license in California.
Terrible time getting my nurse practitioner
license in New York.Took 4-5 months for that one

I lived and worked in Nevada ( Las Vegas). Nevada and New York are not Compact States. So you have to apply for New York nursing license by Endorsement. But you have to know the requirements and gather them before you apply. Go to New York Nursing Board website and you’ll find them there and the phone number. I recommend for you to call them so you’ll know exactly what you have to do. Also New York doesn’t do Temp license. Your current license should be active. I hope this will help. Just google the “ New York Nursing Baord”, everything is there.

Hi! I don't have any specific experience with those states per se, but I recently did mine from Colorado to Minnesota and it was fairly easy. Kind of a pain in the butt, but I would contact the nursing licensure place for the state of New York and go about it that way. You usually have to pay a fee, fill out an application, pay the fee for them to verify your license like nursys. Then you have to do fingerprinting and then they need someone at your current job in ur current state to sign something saying you work there. It took me about 3 months total. A lot of waiting but they will usually issue you a temporary license until your permenant one goes through. My advice is keep calling and getting updates during each process that helped speed mine along.

Hi,

I just send my application to endorse my license. You shouldn´t have any problems. Just follow the instructions:

https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/clinical-nurse-specialis....

Be aware it cost money and time. I would apply for jobs too, as some hospitals can help with the license process (especially when your field is needed). Good luck!

So Nevada is a Compact State that makes easy to transfer, but NY is not so you may have to take an additional test to transfer. Look into the nurse license Compact state. It’s easy to transfer a NY license else where because they are strict about the licensing. I would contact the Board of Nursing in Nevada for som help. Best of luck.

no I can't help call albany, NY board of nurses and speak to someone there

Call the Dept. of Education in NY State (the authority which issues licenses for NY nurses), and ask what paperwork may be missing. Remember NY is a Non-compact state and will need far more paperwork than compact states do.

Mine got approved 2 weeks. There just be some missing things they’re requiring/requesting . I’d contact them directly on phone to see issue

hello there,
I applied for reciprocity, Contact NY board of nursing and find requirements on their site. Every state has different rules. It's a shame that neither one of those states are compact. Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Shouldn’t be difficult. I know you need Nursys verification. Fees etc . You must do 2 courses online . I can’t remember them. It does however take a while. My friend is also waiting

You need to apply for NY license . I have PA as my original license . Was not able to transfer, rather had to apply for NY license . Had to do child abused and sexual assault training and bunch of other stuff many years ago now
