How do I get back into nursing? Been out of the field for five years. I was a Psych. RN for 35 years. I want to get back into the field again. I'm 61? Too long in the tooth?

Seldom too old, and the current need for nurses works in your favor. You should ask for a longer than usual orientation, or apply to a hospital that offers one as a matter of course. Also consider taking a refresher course, which, after 5 years, may be required of you. They can be had online and very often at local colleges and universities. Your age is a positive factor, but it's up to you to sell it. You have maturity and professional experience. Make sure you show it to them by speaking about what you have accomplished. Good luck!
