What are the essential skills and knowledge required to be a wound care nurse?

Essential skill: Be able to properly assess wound odor related to active wound drainage and not from the patient's personal hygiene. Only when you've seen and treated multiple kinds of wounds can you tell the difference. Essential knowledge: Know the wound etiology, patient's history and their pain threshold.
