Ive been an RN since 2006, LPN for 2yrs and CNA for 2 yrs. I am totally burned out. Any suggestions on what an RN position with less stress would be. What about working for an insurance company?
Proceed with caution. I did insurance case management (coordinated out of hospital care for members who’d been recently hospitalized) and it was one of the most toxic of the 6 jobs I’ve had in my 15 year career. Highly disorganized, just as unreasonable expectations of workload as bedside (but different of course), completely eliteist mentality from management, nothing but negative reinforcement, and involved sales pitches oddly enough). However, I know of some people who work remotely in other roles for insurance companies or hospitals such as clinical appeals or utilization review and seem to enjoy it. So I would suggest doing your research as much as you can, network, and hope for the best. There are also remote roles such as nurse navigators for hospitals. Good luck to you!
