What are the funniest and most unforgettable moments you've experienced in your nursing career?
I once had an OR nurse ream me for not running an HCG on a patient they were about to pick up. I told her I could run it but I'm pretty sure he's going to come back not pregnant. Let's just say, she couldn't look me in the eye when she came for him.
It has been a 50 yer career. If I told even 10% of the stories you would be very clear I am making them up.
A gent came into the ED with a cellulitis from diluting his cocaine with tap water. He was a tad anxious and the Ed of course was busy. Pt came screaming out of his room and confronted the very tired doctor, "DOC CHECK MY ARM CHECK MY ARM." Doc looks at arm reaches into his pocket, pulls out his pen and proceeds to draw a check mark on his arm in pen. The ensuing fight was not funny and the patent ended up getting his treatment in a jail cell but up to that point it was very entertaining.
Happened to my very close friend . She went to the bathroom, got out went to hang some antibiotics for this young male orthopedic patient. Lifts her arms to hand the bag on the iv pole and her scrub pants slid down to her ankles . Turns out she didn’t tie those strings tight enough🥱. Young man turns around, looks at her and smiles ….. as she turns red 😁😁😁. She hastily grabs her pants pulls it up ties it and proceeded hanging her antibiotic like nothing happened ! 🤣🤣🤣
While working at a SNF I had a patient that changed doctors. The patient wears a sweet elderly woman with dementia. The new day crotch came into do his initial assessment and asked the patient her name to which she responded Norma. The doctor said great Norma, now can you tell me where you are? And she replied I’m right here. The doctor and I both smiled and chuckled a bit and I told Norma she was right and that was a silly question for the doctor to ask. I loved her! We used to dance together in the hallway too. Rest In Peace Norma.
