Life as a nurse at Boulder Community Health

A Culture That Brings Out the Best in Everyone Boulder Community Health offers the challenge, support and exceptional resources that are the basis for lasting career satisfaction. Although we work as a team to achieve health care excellence, we also encourage our employees to pursue their unique career aspirations and explore the outer limits of their potential. Stable Environment A non-profit, independent community hospital, we offer a stable work environment that is a direct result of local governance and solid financial performance. High Employee Morale The hospital's family-like atmosphere, where teamwork is prized and employees feel respected and supported, promotes retention. In fact, 35% of our 2,300 employees have worked at BCH for 10 years or more. BCH is on "Board" with Patient Safety The BCH Board of Directors is committed to ensuring that Boulder Community Health provides the safest, highest quality of care. The Board has taken several important actions to support and expand the hospital's culture of safety including low patient ratios and a designated behavioral health team. Good Physician Rapport BCH serves as a teaching hospital for nursing students but not for interns or residents, so our nurses have close relationships with attending physicians. Career Growth Nurses and technologists have the opportunity to concentrate their practice in one of the many clinical specialty areas or to expand their experience among several specialties. Clinical and non-clinical employees interested in exploring new areas are urged to take classes offered by the hospital, and transfers within the hospital are encouraged. Our new RN Residency Program is a 12-week innovative and collaborative experience including didactic classes, shadowing in multiple areas and orientation with an experienced RN. The departments participating in the program are primarily Acute Care areas to include Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care Unit, Orthopedics/Neurology, and Oncology
