When I wanted to transition to OB after 10 years in Med/Surg and Peds, I took a four week course offered by my University school of nursing in OB. It was great, ramped up my resume and got me a per diem job in a hospital maternity unit. You might even be able to network in your class and find someone to take you on. They oriented me over another 4 weeks and then I said YES to all the work that came my way. Believe me, even nurses who love what they do are glad to have a break and know the person working for them knows the job and does it well. Good luck. Don't give up.
