Advice to a case manager who was put in cardiology without prior training? I was floating in many departments (no cards) and when this position opened they offered and I accepted. Now struggling with abbreviations and protocols. Any helpful books?

Thank you for posting. I am sorry to read you are struggling. It is hard enough to take on a new role. That said, the position was offered to you, which makes me think 'they' trust you can do the job and know when to ask for more help or tools.
However, I am not sure I fully understand what you are asking.
What do you mean by 'no cards'.
Protocols are established and should be made available to you. If they aren't, that poses a risk to patients, your license and the facility. Ask your manager about these protocols.
As to abbreviations: are these medical abbreviations or some created only for your facility?
If you have time, please circle back and let me know the outcome of the steps you take. I want to learn more and sense a gap in my knowledge.
