Has anyone looked into that Nurse Coach gig that they advertise on instagram? Or legal nursing? Or….nurse editor/writing as a nurse/editing journals?

I am a Nurse Coach and a Nurse Educator. Nurse Coaching is the only life coaching path that currently has a certification (actually 2 certifications) tied to professional qualifications. The Nurse Coach role is more than a Nurse Educator; you do not need to coach nurses, you do not have to coach only on health concerns, and you do not have to coach within a healthcare system. Nurse educators focus on teaching or training. Nurse Coaches focus on co-creating a new reality for the client through a transformative approach that uses the skills inherent to nursing to assist the client identify and achieve their goals.

I am also an attorney. I did that before I went through nursing school. (I know that this is backward from how most nurse/attorneys get their education.) I use my legal knowledge to inform my practice as a nurse and as an educator or a coach. Legal Nursing is a more specific expertise of document/chart review and possibly appearing as an expert witness in trials or depositions. Some of these positions are essentially full time, but many are almost intermittent gig work and require a lot of self-motivation and building relationships with the malpractice and health law attorneys.

Like anything, you get out of it what you put into it. Any positions away from healthcare systems come with the entrepreneurial risks and benefits. YMMV.

My friend completed it 3 years ago. She has launched her coaching business and website but it hasn't taken off to the point she can quit her day job. I'm not sure what coaching can offer that a nurse educator can't. She ended up getting 2 more certs in fitness and nutrition to focus the coaching on nurses staying healthy. She has sky 5 subscribers.
