Any tips for a new grad nurse who has been searching for a job for the past 3 months? I'm not sure if I am looking in the right places or simply because I am a new grad with zero experience.
Be patient and everything will come into place . Just do not forget to pray and it will come.
If your circumstances allow try different cities. I found it harder to find a job in a large established city with many nursing schools. Conversely very small town with stable population/businesses would be hard. Growing mid-size size cities are looking for nurses in all departments.
If you are a RN I recommend starting to net work with other nurses . Keep putting your resume out and do not give up it may take some time but you will find something. If you are a LVN the company Maxim I work for is a home health agency that does hire new grads. I pray you find something soon and that you will find much joy in starting your new career!
It's more difficult (not impossible, but definitely less opportunity) to get new grad positions in the OR (or the ED), just because it helps to have your skills down. You're sort of more expected to hit the ground running. I would echo what others are saying and call the nurse recruiter at hospitals you are interested in and ask what the new grad positions are. Some hospitals even have specific units for new grads to start in, and then branch out to other units. I would also say that you will probably feel better getting a year on a floor somewhere so you can get your clinical skills down plus time management for having a team of patients.
Have you tried establishing network relationships with people in your area of interest? Maybe doing some volunteering or even reaching out to recruiters.
Try getting a job at a hospital that is connected to a university that offers degrees in nursing
If you did clinical , you have experience. You have more training than you think. Be positive and remember that they will only have as much confidence in you, as you have in yourself. If you did any CNA work, that is experience in healthcare. You can do this!!
Make sure you are applying to the new grad programs. There are typically apply by dates that are open twice a year.
Try applying at a rehab hospital in your area. I work at Select Medical. They hire new grads. You'll get awesome experience. They're partnered with Cleveland Clinical.
It’s fear of what if I’m wrong ?? Your gonna be fine just as long as you keep questioning things you may or may not understand a nurse that always questions things is not dum so step up be aware and move forward into your future because ten years down the road you’ll laugh at yourself and be positive
Hi there, how is your resume and cover letter? Also do you have an idea on what you want to do?
