How to get a Peds job in Queens/Long island, NY with no previous peds jobs? Moving from a level 1 trauma center with 1.5 years adult med surg

I think you have a very good base by having adult med surg for a year and a half! I would apply for Peds if there are openings and see where it gets you. Many med surg principles apply to Peds as well! Be enthusiastic to learning new things! A manager will be able to assess if you will be a good fit! If there are no Peds openings, continue to hone your skills with adults and your confidence will grow and when an opening comes along you can apply again! There is always a need for Nurses!
