Any tips for becoming a research nurse, informatics nurse, case management or utilization review nurse when I only have four yrs cardiac critical care experience?
Hi - The fist thing I recommend is reach out to these departments. Typically CC nurses have an active unit practice counsel and I would not be surprised if some these disciplines are not or have not been on one of your PI projects.
If not reach out to a colleague who can connect you with these nurses. I can tell you that as a quality director, I "pay it forward". I have 4 RN's on my current team with NO previous quality experience, yet have a passion for patient safety and high quality care.
I would rather hire RN's with limited experience and help to groom them into quality staff because their eagerness to learn along with their current acute care experience make them the BEST OF THE BEST
Good luck to you!!

I am looking for the same thing. I have been in the NICU for 7.5 years and am getting my MSN in Leadership. Most of the jobs are entry-level, and I throw applications out there. One position for informatics was going to hire me and said I needed certifications within the first year. I did not take the job because it did not allow for hybrid work, and the pay was lower than I sought.
