Any nurses with experience in drug rehab/ addiction? What do you like about your job and what do you dislike? Any tips for getting into this field of nursing?

I have several years experience in the detox field, and I would encourage you to make an appointment or speak with the nurse manager at several detox units, and let them know your desire to help those experiencing addiction issues.
Before you do that, however, I would encourage you highly to read and understand the current medication analyzed an addiction treatment.
Suboxone, Clonidine, Trazodone, Seroquel, Valium, Ativan and methadone. Will also need to know about antidepressants, such as Fluoxetine, Duloxetine, Wellbutrin. Know what gabapentin is and how it is used in addiction treatment. this would be a good start. good luck.
