What approach should I take regarding feeding and changing diapers for pediatric patients on night shift?

March 9th, 2025

It depends on the situation. Are you talking about postpartum or NICU or pediatrics. If postpartum, you provide care as requested by Parent(s). You teach as you go… On other units, if parents are present at night, assist with care as needed. You always teach as you assist, so parents get more comfortable with providing care. If no support person is present,, you check diapers periodically, and definitely before feeding. Your question is too vague for a complete answer.
