What experience/certifications would help me be able to obtain a Case Manager position?
Usually case manager RNs have to have experience in the field; ie..knowing how to draw blood, insert a Foley cath, suction a teacher.
I have previously done case management. Many employers would prefer to have a nurse with a CCM certification. If you do not have this certification already you are required to obtain it within 1 or 2 years of your date of hire if you accept the position in many instances. This many be the case even if you do have prior case management experience.
The case management certification.
Cm here.. I’d recommend you get case management certified. Depending on what type Case management you want to get into a depend on the qualifications. I work for an insurance plan and do inpatient case management and I had about 10 years floor of experience prior. If your new grad I definitely recommend getting some for Experian’s first before jumping into case management.
You can get a
Discharge planning experience and Case Manager Certifications. I know if 2 certification authorities.
