I've been in long term care for 11 yrs. Recently did Med/Surg for 7 months. I would love to do infusion nursing. Any suggestions on how I can get a job in this field? Every place I've tried asks for more experience.
Does the hospital you are working in have an infusion center? I suggest to go and meet the manager and ask if you can cross-train to potentially transfer to that department once you have completed one year of service (usually required for job transfers within the company). Also if this is your passion, it would be great to get a certification in infusion that way you are more marketable to an infusion employer. A lot of infusion pharmacies also value IgG certification in addition to infusion cert.
If you haven't yet, try searching for CVS Coram careers. They might have infusion nursing positions that do not require infusion experience.
Hi
I’m an infusion nurse for 5 years. Most infusion Rn position would require oncology background and chemotherapy certification since infusion clinic administer outpatient chemotherapy regiment. I would suggest you transfer to an Oncology unit to get experience working with chemo and central lines. That would definitely make you a qualify candidate for infusion nurse position.
Best of luck.
I work for Naven Health, the home infusion division of Option Care. You could do per diem to see if you like it or not, while keeping your other job. I can refer you if you are interested. It’s the best job I ever had. The company is very open to training if you don’t have the experience. You can look them up- Navenhealth.com.
We are willing to train at AMIV.COM
If you are looking for infusion in terms of medical infusion you could probably pick up a roll anywhere. If you are looking for infusion in Oncology ie chemotherapy then you would need to become chemotherapy certified and have oncology experience. Most hospitals have both a medical and oncology infusions center. There are some home infusion companies as well that will hire you if you have great IV skills and know how to access mediports and other lines. But if you have your heart set on chemotherapy there are some places that will hire someone they think has potential and train you up. I hope you get what you are looking for. :)
As an infusion RN for the last 4 years I would recommend gaining some experience in hematology/ oncology. You would primarily be dealing with chemotherapy/ immunotherapy in the outpatient infusion setting. I would also look into obtaining your chemo/ bio therapy/ immunotherapy certification. Also you have such a great background and knowledge base, I would emphasize that on your resume, along with strong IV access skills and any experience you have with central lines. Good luck with your pro suit into outpatient infusion!!! You’ll be great!

Try a home infusion company that has an infusion suite.

Get a recruiter, so helpful. They will help you find what you are looking for.
Reach out to home infusion pharmacies. They are always looking for infusion nurses.
unit. Our hospital, we were more likely to hire nurses who worked on the oncology ubit.
Make sure to get your IV certification. Look into some holistic practices as many of them believe in IV infusions and are more likely to give you a chance
