Hi I started apply for a nursing positions. What are the most common interview questions?
If the interview is not for a specialty area, then popular questions could be:
1) Tell about a time you had a conflict and how you resolved it?
2) Tell me about a disgruntled customer/patient you encountered and how you communicated with that patient?
3) What is your five-year plan/goals?
4) What are two/three attributes that you consider your strengths?
5) What area/skill/attribute would you consider your weakness?
6) What health issue/topic have you recently read about or what health issue concerns you most?
Of course, there are the usually:
- Tell me about yourself? (The interviewer wants to know about yourself as a student/nurse/medical professional/professional experiences/skills/accomplishments
- Why would you be a good candidate for this job.
Good Luck!!

It depends on what specialty you are applying for. In some of the interviews I was asked "what would you do in this situation?" They want to see if you have a clue as to what you are doing and also if you can think on your feet. The most intensive interviews were with the school districts I was applying to. They gave me several scenarios and asked what would be my actions in that situation. I had to put myself into the scene and work from there. Panel interviews are rough and most nursing interviews are in front of a panel. Just relax as best you can and use your education to get you through. Be confident and know that no matter where you go, you won't know everything perfectly and every place will train you to their specifications. Be honest and let them know you are always willing to learn. Be personable and easy to talk to. Right now is the best time to find a job as everyone is hiring and hiring now! Good luck!
Here are a few interview questions that I have asked during the interview process with my nurses.
1.) What do you like most about being a nurse?
2.) What do you find most difficult about being a nurse?
3.) Why do you want to work here?
4.) What would you consider that are your strengths and weaknesses as a nurse?
5.) Describe a situation where you had to work with a difficult co-worker. How did you handle it?
6.) Describe a time there was a miscommunication between you and a teammate. How did you handle it?
Go to EBay and look for books on How to ace an interview. Quiz yourself. Go in confident and self directed. Ask for what you want and let them know what you can do for them.
hello, i think there a couple of questions, but most common for me have been
1. Talk about yourself? A very broad question, but need to stay relevant
2. Why Nursing?
3. Situational questions like tell me the time when... conflict with coworker, patient etc.
4. Where do you see yourself in 3,5,10 years..?
5. Why should we hire you?
6. Why are you leaving your current job?
7. Do you have any questions for us?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
What is your approach? Team, democratic, autocratic?
1. What are your work experience?
2. What are your work pressure?
3. As a nurse, what are your greatest work challenge you have encountered during a particular duty?
I usually begin by asking them to tell me about themself. I look for eye contact 100%
I like for them to tell me about why they chose to become an RN. I ask about their strengths and weaknesses in clinical. I ask what would their nursing professor say about them?
Being we work at a magnet hospital I will ask if they know what Magnet means and if soo why it it important to them. I hope this helps
From my experience and also having the opportunity to seat in on interview panels. First question is usually, "Why do you want to work for our organization?", next "What makes you a good fit for our hospital or unit?", "Why did you become a nurse?", What do you like about our unit?" and lastly how would you handle a difficult patient/family?"
Make sure to do your homework about the organization you plan on applying to so you can easily answer the above questions. Good luck
Sharing a time when you had a difficult patient and/or family member. What was it? And how did you handle it.
Most common question how you see yourself in five years?
Why you want to work with us?
Thanks . Best of luck
What are your goals? What do you hope to gain from this job? Would having to rotate shifts occasionally put a burden on you? Why did you pick this area? These were some of the questions I was asked at my last job interview 6 years ago
Pinterest has lots of information on this subject and it’s free.
What are your strengths. What are your weaknesses.hy do you want to work here.
TThe radon for choosing this place.
I have had a mix of these questions when I applied to both my specialties and my first job as a floor nurse. I also usually get asked about my background in nursing and I sum it up then the interview goes from there. Why did I leave or am resigning from my last, or current employer. My last interview for current job I was asked about any issues that might arise often to cause frequent call offs . How do I deal with doctors especially when they require a lot or known for speaking to staff in the negative.
