How can I get experience in areas such as Case Management, Utilization Review, Health Educator Dialysis and/or Home Health?
Look for careers with insurance companies but be sure to do some research on the environment you'll be entering. Stay away from CVS Health, ie Aetna. They are not employee friendly and work life balance virtually non existent.
If you are not seeking employment in these areas, applying for a paid or unpaid internship or volunteer position in each of these departments will be helpful. Additionally, these disciplines have certification programs, therefore researching their professional websites may offer insight into the practice guidance and requirements which would expose you to what the positions entail. Also seeking administrative positions in these roles would be a helpful start to exposing someone to the daily operations of a case management/social work service and utilization review and management
role.
If you work in a hospital… you can request a transfer into case management as long as there are positions open. If not, as long as you have some floor experience and the hospital/company is willing to train they will take you on :)
