What websites are there for finding Remote RN positions? Or side gigs? What are some of the most common side gig jobs? And how much do they pay?

The usual online job sites like Indeed or LinkedIn are a good place to start in terms of checking out what is available. One of the most common openings are for Telehealth nurses (Utilization Management, Authorization Review, Chronic Condition Management, Remote Patient Monitoring) and they either pay hourly or by the case. For example, one employer pays $15.00 per patient contact, provided you spend a total of 20 minutes per patient, or, the hourly rates for some employers range from about 25.00 to 45.00.

Advantages are no traveling to work, contact with (possibly)obnoxious coworkers is limited, no uniforms, and no fixed break/lunch times. Disadvantages are decreased availability of assistance from coworkers (or delayed help because they are busy too). Also, every call/chat is recorded for auditing or training. If you have any training or certification in coding or billing you might find a position doing claims/billing review for insurance companies or for medical offices. These positions will often times require remote contact with people ranging from patients/clients, providers, office staff, etc.

There are a lot of remote positions available, but part-time positions are a bit harder to find. When prospective employers ask about skills, most are looking for people with good communication skills, telephone etiquette, EHR/EMR experience, charting , and a working knowledge of regulations pertaining to managed care programs and insurance claims.

I hope this helps you with your search and good luck to you.
