Diet and excercise
You have to watch your sugar/carb intake. Drink water, get plenty of exercise, walking is one of the best exercises. You will be tempted to eat that forbidden sweet, and you may fall to that temptation but get back on track quickly! Listen to your doctor/ nutritionist. So many people want to judge the medical team, but it's really up to you and how bad you want to bring down or stabilize your A1c. If you want to stay away from the meds you've got to do the homework.
Count your carbs, that is the most important thing that you can do. If you don't want to exercise at least walk a minimum of 3 to 4 times a week. Start out small if you'd like and work up to the longer distance. Stay away from sugar, it is absolutely poison to your body. Eat lots of salads, beans even though they have a lot of carbs they don't shoot your blood sugar up like sugar. Next check your fasting blood glucose everyday when you get up. That tells you where you're starting from.
