What are some new grad RN jobs hiring in NY, NY? When do I start applying if I graduate in May?

The best way to get a job as a new grad is to precept on the type of unit you want to work. Even if that particular facility doesn’t hire you, you can list the experience on your resume and discuss why you want to go into that field.

If you’re moving to New York from another state/city, teaching hospitals typically have specific new graduate jobs they roll out around graduation each year.

You can apply as soon as your graduate, with your NCLEX date listed on your resume. The easiest way to get in anywhere, though, is to apply where you precept.

When you did your clinicals make it a point to say to your preceptor that you would like to work there
Chat with the nurse manager and let him or her know that you want to work in there, get their card, call them when you pass your NCLEX and let them know that you passed and what the next steps are
Try teaching hospitals
Try nursing homes / skilled nursing facilities (to get your experience)
Talk to others in healthcare and ask if their facility is hiring
Talk to your classmates and find out where they are going and what offer they received that way you know where to apply and how much to negotiate for salary
