In Texas, what is the most amount of patients were you assigned in 1 shift?
4
wow, life is easy in texas.
In NY, I was the only RN in the ER (every patient was mine and it was during cold and flu season), we did not have LPN's or nurses aides, all me.
As a case manager, my caseload is between 60-150 patients depending on what I am case managing. Catastrophic case management maybe 30 patients.
When I was working for a brief stint in med/surg: I was the only nurse on one side of the unit; about 30 patients. All needing insulin, wound care changes and their IV bags changed first thing in the morning because the night nurses never changed the IV's before they left. It was even more fun when they were late to show up for their shift. What did the manger do? Yell at me when I Told her I can't stay late, I have to go home.
Before I retired in late 2018, always 5-6 pts, most of them high acuity.
20 on team
6 patients on a medsurg floor as a float nurse worse day of my life 😆
