How can I better advocate for my patients who seem to be in more pain than the doctor acknowledges?

Speak up for your patients. Don’t be afraid to engage the physicians in a conversation about your patients’ treatment plan.

Make sure you have documented pain well as well as response to medication given and any other pain relieving modalities such as ice, heat, positioning, etc. If you have already presented to the doctor at least twice with no adequate response, include the chart he nurse.
