What's the best way to set up the surgical room for efficiency?

Generally, unless you have direct input into design, room layout is already there or already decided. It is very case dependent. But generally, for each case, removing unnecessary equipment, clearing trip hazards, making sure suction and ESU are functional, testing equipment as far as you can, making sure you have needed equipment, having backup sutures in the room, extra gloves for all scrubbed in, making sure your room is stocked in basic supplies, and reviewing the case before hand. Everything else is dependent on the case and the work flow team if you have one. Don’t get in a hurry and plan ahead as much as you can. Hope that helps.
