The OR is on the job training. You have great background. Don’t hesitate about leaving your comfort zone. Just apply to the OR and
move forward. It is different but very rewarding
keeping your patient safe during surgery

Many hospitals have an orientation to manage the transition into the OR. I started as a med surg nurse and transitioned into the OR after six months. Suggest you find a facility that will allow you scrub and circulate. Opened more doors for me throughout a 30 year career. I trained at a level one trauma center and worked most of that time In vascular and open heart.

Get a certification for Operating Room Nursing. That will educate you to all the duties and you will feel confident with equipment, lingo and expectations.

The best way is to apply and transfer in side of your hospital and after once you have one or two years experience you can apply to different hospitals.
