Do you think it is possible for me to start in the NICU or even pediatrics as a new grad nurse? I had my elective clinical in the NICU for two months... What do I need to do to get noticed?

Yes. You are a new graduate and that is what they are really looking for. Good luck.

YES you will do fine. U learning everyday. Get advise from senior Nurse and ask NiCU Nurses that have worked the Unit for some years for advice.

I think you can. It is all dependent on you ability to go where they are willing to give you what you want. You are a new nurse? If yes and you have passed your state's professional boards, I believe that you have to be sure of yourself and ask for what you want. If you are then do that. Be will to keep looking. There are a lot of places looking for nurse that have the skills and willingness to go into those areas. Are you willing to give a little to get to the area you want to? Say work a shift no one wants. Just have an idea of what you want how you want to get there and speak up in the offer room ask for what you need, and have your boundaries in your mind, be prepared to move on if they don't have a great way to get you oriented as a new nurse. You don't want that to discourage you from your career out of the gate

Yes. Look for a hospital that has a residency program for nurses new to the NICU. We take new grads, nurses changing specialies and nurses from level 2 NICU'S. Your orientation is based on your needs.
