Does anyone have experience with working as nurse abroad? I speak French and German, would love to get out of the states! I just don't know how to even get started with the job search.
Start with Department of State. Its government’s agency that overseas diplomatic sites around the world. You could work as a nurse at American Embassy. Have to tell you that it is a long process for clearance but if you get through you might get something.
You could work in Switzerland with your language background. Go to Switzerland's Red Cross page to learn about licensing for the country. A mandatory language test in Italian, German, or French is required to become licensed. A fee of around $600 is also charged in order for the Red Cross to approve your credentials. I am interested in transitioning to Switzerland with the Italian language, but you have more options of work locations due to your German knowledge. I have only watched a few youtube videos on expats working in Swiss healthcare. I wasn't not able to learn much about it other than it seems similar to the USA. I believe a visa is also required to work in Switzerland, unless you are an EU citizen. Hope that helps.
Germany is also an option for working, there are many agencies that will help ease you in to life as a nurse in that country. The process may be easier due to this.
I lived in Germany for ten years. They do look at your training and education and experience. Bring alot of documentation with you. One thing, as a foreigner, you must get a work permit.
