Is anyone in Hospice Case Management? If so, how do you like it?

I love it. It can be taxing on the spirit but is a rewarding job. I've almost always done a hospice position even if it was my primary job. Alot of driving as well.

You have a lot of autonomy, both in your schedule because you are in charge of setting up your visits and in managing the patient’s care plan because the provider may only see the patient every six months. You have to be good at organizing your time and logistics. You will learn a lot about end stage of disease processes, which is very informative. Providers, nurses, and therapists I worked with were very supportive with education and answering my questions. In my experience the biggest challenge was balancing compassion and emotional boundaries. When you can strike that balance it is the most rewarding work there is.
