With all the vacant positions available, why do some nurse managers hesitate to hire RN’s who took longer to pass the NCLEX? Are they looked at to be less valuable for patient care?
I have a question for you, how do they know you did not pass your NCLEX first time out? In all my years and different employments I was never ask about passing the NCLEX, what matter is do you have a valid license. So with that being said it is hard to really answer your question because no one can say what another person thinks. This should not be asked and I would not bring it up.
However, I being on both side of the desk ( staff and management ) I can say when applying for a position be confident in yourself as a person and your nursing skills. You should be prepare for the question asked clinical and professional. Learn a little about the position, what is expected from this unit and faculty. Ask some pertinent questions that pertain to the job description, shifts, salary and if you align with their philosophy and mission statement.
Most of all look your best - Dress for success ( take some scrubs if you are needed to shadow) Look the part because first impression can be lasting. The best to you
