I’ll be graduating in May but I’m feeling overwhelmed with looking at New grad jobs/programs. We have some guidance from my university but it’s still so daunting. I’m mostly looking in MA, any advice?
Rhetorical & Verbos Opinion below.
-There is a nursing shortage as the GOV WHO put so many mandates upon nurses to kill themselves the nurses do not want to return and will never be right again with all the PTSD. The nurses had their innards ripped out, were beat down and told to suck it up as everyone knows about the injuries and deaths as CDC says COVID jabs are not efficacious. Baby-Boomers (1946-1964) nurses are running and not looking back. Nurses telling family members they can not visit as there is a dangerous virus that was never isolated and it is so lethal you need a test to see if you may have acquired it. Lol
-Take your dream job for the first experience; I did ER for a good start.
-MA is a Puritanical Police State. Watch out for the Attleboro District Kangaroo Court with Judge Michelle Armour a wild one. Police with sovereignty & immunity without law knowledge; run to other state as there is a nursing shortage.
My advice would be to focus on the big 2 systems in the Boston area (MGB and BI Lahey) this would ensure that the training you’re getting is highly comprehensive and if the time comes after you get some experience you’ll already be a known quantity in a large medical system. I’m biased and would say stick to MGB, but I’ve worked in the system the last 6+ years :)
RN of 26 years here. So take this as a gentle nudge from someone who has worked in almost every corner of nursing. Find someplace that has a preceptorship in a field you are interested in. I know many places have ICU, surgery and Emergency nursing programs. Once they set you up in the program, don’t let them rush you. If you are still feeling overwhelmed at the end of the preceptorship, maybe it’s not the one for you. Try to avoid lengthy trades in time for these programs. One would hate to be locked into something that is not going to make you at least a little happy for a long period of time. Save a little money along the way so you don’t have to feel like you are in a hurry to get that next job. Don’t wait too long to go back for an advanced degree if you have aspirations. It’s gets harder to go back once you start making money, developing habits, and getting comfortable in everyday life. Well, there’s my two cents worth. Hope it helps.
You should wait for your university graduation in May and following your all university's advices. After that you will have all the opportunity to find a job from the job program of the new graduates, because you well have your full academic speciality. Thank you so much!
Work part time and look into NP not MA! Make sure whatever you study for, has a license. Even get your social work license.
The good news is that
