I was wondering if it would be okay to take a role as an ambulatory nurse in a fertility surgery center as a new graduate. Will I get better training in a hospital setting? All advice and opinions are appreciated!!
Absolutely! That’s an amazing opportunity. If it’s been presented and it speaks to you take it! 😊
Yes! But this kind of job might limit you in terms of only having specialty training down the road. Medical Surgical nursing is usually the best way to go unless you have decided on being a fertility nurse only. Still it sounds like a great opportunity for you since Fertility Center jobs may not be very prevalent. I think it is your choice! Good luck!
That depends on what you will be hired for ! For example if they are hiring you to be in the surgery suite as a circulating nurse then you will learn about female surgeries! You also could learn how to be a recovery nurse after they come out of surgery or help the fertility doctor perform egg retrievals ! Then recover those patients after as well! But if you are looking for different types of patient conditions and want to learn many different things! You might be better in a hospital setting but it all depends on what you want to experience!
