I recently came from India, I have 5 years of experience in medical icu ,how I can enhance my knowledge and find a suitable job? It's very difficult for me to get a job here, because all are asking one year experience in USA
Look for hospitals with international programs. I know for certain Baylor Scott and white In Texas does. Other nurses who moved here from other countries become your mentor and help you navigate the differences in care, culture, policies.
Try to find a recruiter who can present your credentials to clients. Attend a recruitment event at hospitals so you can talk to people who are actually hiring. Creating connections is key.
Try applying for a position in a cardiac telemetry unit or an ICU step-down unit. Both will use skills you have gained over 5 years, and should allow you to move up into regular ICU after a year of less intensive experience here. Good luck.
Welcome to America, my friend. I came from Philippines but I came here through a hospital recruiter with my green card which took 5-10 years for me. You are here. I will start by getting my credentials accredited through the Board of Nursing of your state to get an RN license. They will advise you of what’s next. I heard that they’re requiring foreign nurses now to take 1 year of classes in Med-Surgery etc , just clarify. If you have the license, I will start with volunteer work or jobs in any healthcare facility also for income and start looking for new grad programs in hospitals where they hire RNs with no experience and train them. Good Luck my friend 🥰
