I'm having trouble with getting consistent readings on a pulse oximeter for patients with cold fingers. Any advice?

My advice would be to warm the fingers up using friction heat with your fingers or using a heated blanket if your unit or facility provides one to increase temperature to the fingers. If that doesn’t work, I find that using the toes or ear lobes are your best bet to getting a pulse oximeter reading. Hope that helps 😄

You can try warm packs, or ask respiratory therapy for connector for nose or ear or forehead.

Warm blankets! Try different areas such as their ear.
