How can I provide the best patient care in a community/public setting? How can I further assist my patients?

Hello, am of the opinion that Public Health means providing health care to the grassroot which is referred to as the Community .I can further assist my patients by engaging in home visits and follow up care because distance and money to pay for rendered care to the health center/ facility may be a challenge to the patient living in a community.

In most settings the public health nurse will work under the orders from a doctor, nurse practitioner or a physician assistant. In 2022, there are many problems being faced every day. Hunger, homelessness, COVID, just to name a few are not the responsibility of any one person to solve. A nurse who is well informed about the social and political climate in his/her geographical area becomes a valuable resource for anyone she/he administers to. No one should believe they can solve all the problems they may encounter while practicing in a public health setting.

I found it useful to take online CEU’s about acceptance and diversity, also learning about open- ended questions that encourage clients/ patients to trust and open up about their own specific concerns, needs, and troubles. Many of these courses and lectures are free or low- cost.

I am keen on knowing the answer to this question as well.
