You should not have to go back to med surg. You will need a strong orientation. I would see if you could spend a few of your days off showing a nurse. The pace and focus very different from what you are doing now. Have worked OR and all critical care areas and they each have their own characteristics and temperaments. The great thing about nursing is the flexibility. If you find ED not your cup of tea probably will be hard to go back to your current position - there usually are lots of folks wanting your slot
