Can a nurse who hasn’t worked in the field in 9 yrs get a job as a registered nurse?

You can. You may want to take a refresher course first, although 9 years isn't that long away from nursing. Some hospitals offer refresher courses and some do not.
When I first started working in the nursing field, I was training with someone who hadn't worked in 20-30 years. Back when all antibiotics were given via injection. We didn't have refresher courses then, and she had a hard time adjusting to the fast pace of a hospital floor. That was in 1988.
