Are math subjects important in nursing? I have dyscalculia and am not sure if I can pass as a nurse?

Unfortunately, nursing is not for you. You could kill or severely injure someone.

I also have been diagnosed with dyscalculia, I've been a nurse for 45 years (and NP for 26 of that) and never made a medication error. If in doubt about a calculation have someone check it. We used to check each other's all the time in CCU/ICU/ER. Those are powerful infusions we worked with and it's important to always put safety before ego! As for school, go for all the extra help you can when it's offered, and seek it out when it isn't. Ask for help also from professors or other students who are good at math. And as another responder has replied "Practice, practice practice." Do ALL the problems in your work book. NO math/calculation workbook? GET ONE. When I taught nursing at a local university we had prepared sheets of math problems for our students to practice working out. If your school does that, take them home and do them. When I went to ICU early in my career and was working with more advanced math, I always asked someone to check my calculations until I had the process down pat. Do nursing math enough and it will become embedded in your brain, dyscalculia or not! Good luck to you.

For dosage calculations.

Math is super important in nursing school. Once out and working, not so much. I liked math problems on nursing school exams. I could solve them easily and there was no guessing as to what the correct answer was!
