How can I get a RN position in NICU or mother/ baby with pediatric nurse home care experience?
Hi there! We do have facilities who are hiring and training nurses into areas, even if they don't necessarily have experience in that particular area. If you haven't already, please complete a profile with us at www.incrediblehealth.com, and we would be happy to help you search for your dream job!
You already have pediatric home care experience...which to me as a fellow pediatric nurse, says you're confident in working with pediatric patients.
Concentrate on your work experience when interviewing and sell why you believe you'd love to expand your skills to include a position working in NICU, mother baby or pediatric home care. I'm confident you'll have a lot of choices from pediatric employers and will have a new job in no time.
Many facilities have step programs as well as direct hire to the unit. NICU and PICU nurses can be hard to come by, so many offer longer orientation for direct unit hire. Step program involves starting in regular pediatrics and work up to the units with experience and cross training.
Good luck with your search. We definitely need more nurses for our kiddos.
Hospitals are so short staffed right now.
