How do you navigate workplace politics and the CYA mentality? I love my job and the patients but I don’t particularly like all of my co-workers
First thing. Cya. Do what you say, write what you do and document document document! This is your lisence, your livelihood and for most their families wellbeing. The family of the patient who is upset because grandma didn't get a Tylenol immediately because she stubbed her big toe doesn't care if you have a patient coding in the room next to them. These kinds of entitled people exist and very common. They will paint you in the worst way possible to anyone with power. So document document document!
This brings us to the next point the administration doesn't care about you. You are dispensable and replaceable according to them.
As far as company politics my best advice is not get involved if able, do your job, and don't bring work home with you.
It might sound mean and harsh but you need to focus on you first.
You’re there to do a job and leave. Keep it professional and don’t share personal details about your life. Don’t get involved in the workplace drama and stay biased. Gives them nothing to talk about when it comes to you.
