How do you make yourself more "marketable" as a new grad rn without any in-hospital experience, especially to jobs in critical care?
Have up-to-date ACLS/BCLS skills, Stop-the-Bleed and Narcan administration classes completed. These are all offered by organizations such as EMS, local government health dept.offices and by hospital emergency rooms. These show you are interested in applying the emergency skills you have learned at community level. Volunteer in your community with emergency services, or even teaching health-related classes in senior centers, assisted living situations, or local emergency outreach services (they differ from EMS) which respond to large-scale emergencies in your community. Most large cities have them in addition to EMS. Take a critical care course either online or at a nearby college offering continuing nursing education courses.
Study up on the “Get with the guidelines” and use those bench marker point in your application. Research the organization (where you’re trying to work) hospitals and other facilities always have a mission statement and core values. Use them as an advantage in your resume’ any hospital would be impressed :) happy Hunting ❤️
