Can a patient request for a male nurse instead of a female nurse?
Absolutely. It can go the other way as well which is their right. If it can’t be accommodated (no males working that day ect.) then I like to try and have a conversation about their concerns and how we can collaborate on a solution.
Yes of course. Not that the patient is discriminating, but of course there are some that are. But it is also a patient's right to ask or prefer to receive care from a gender specific nurse.
Absolutely, they should be able to unless there are not any male nurses working on the shift that particular day. This may be something that management may need to be aware of if the patient is long term. This would help them to provide care for the patient while they are admitted in the hospital’s care.
Of course. And sometimes it is culturally essential. We had a gentleman on our trauma uit from a counry where ONLY the mother and wife may bathe a man if he cannot do it for himself. Both were not in this country, so we had men from our unit give him baths; we asked for men from other units to bathe him when our guys were off.

Yes
Of course yes. Many patients prefer male nurses as they tend to have a better temperament much of the time.
