What positions have you been applying for? If you are willing, with 6 months of experience , many hospitals will accept you into a new grad program.

The CA job market is much more competitive because lots of nurses go there from all over due to higher wages and the ratio law. You will probably need a bare minimum of 1 year of experience to get a job in CA, maybe even 2. You can also check with the travel agencies to get your foot in the door, but I'm sure they all require at least 1 year.

UC Davis Health Systems and Medical Center is a great place to work. I worked for them for 12 years. Good pay and benefits. It's a teaching hospital so you see a lot of different, uncommon, problems with patients.
