Should I tailor my nursing resume to each specific job I am applying for as a new grad?
Yes, it is a good idea to tailor your nursing resume to each specific job you are applying for as a new grad. This will help you stand out from other applicants and show that you have taken the time to research the position and the organization. You can tailor your resume by highlighting your relevant skills and experience, using keywords from the job description, and customizing your objective statement. Be sure to also include any relevant coursework, clinical rotations, or volunteer work that you have completed. I hope this information helps you!
No, be specific about your talents and what you are seeking. Be general and broad to market yourself for ALL the jobs in 1 that you're applying for. Like "Looking to join an organization with an exceptional mission to serve, give quality care, potential for advancement, eager to learn and expand skills sets, follow all policies and procedures, apply mission statement to whom we serve and blah blah... Look up resume examples for new grad nurses and get some ideas and reword some of the jargon to fit yourself. Like I said, highlight your talents, note what you accomplished in clinical, put your experience where you did clinical, and note what experience you have on the electronic record systems you worked on during clinical, etc... This all matters.
A bit of knowledge from a seasoned nurse and an adjunct professor who taught clinical first-level students: High turnover hospitals, like franchise hospitals in your area, are willing to hire new nurses fast out of school readily. You can pretty much get a job there in any department you want. Also, the best advice I can give you is if you want to market yourself to be able to work in the future anywhere you want is to get a total of 2 years of experience in critical care. Either a combination of ICU and ER or 2 years in 1 or the other. It doesn't matter what kind of ICU along as it is adult not just pediatrics. DO NOT start off in a specialty area like OB< PEDIATRIC< NEONATE, etc. Because if your start off in 1 of these areas you will be STUCK and can't move around or out of it.
There you go, I hope this helps! Good luck!
