I was offered an out patient position as a new grad with a yr off. Will starting outpatient make it a difficult transition to eventually get work bedside in a hospital?

If that's the only opportunity at the moment then take it, but I would recommend applying to residency programs in your area. A year off isn't great, but my hospital only accepts residents once a year, so we do have some who graduates in the winter so they wait 6 months, so I do not think it is the end of the world

Apply for nights in med/surg to get into hospital, this is normal entry route. Outpatient will be interesting but keep trying.
