I am a fairly new ER nurse, with the right resources and support system I have found the ER to an amazing place to start my career. I have not found it to be dangerous. One must always be aware of their surroundings regardless of what specialty they are in. I am not sure if you are concerned about the potential type of patients you may encounter, but I can assure you that, at least with the team I work with, we always have each others back and never do I feel alone in any situation I am faced with.

It can be. I have been assaulted twice and spit and peed on more times than I can count. You have to realize that these patients are coming at the worst time of their lives. Either by choice or by transport. Empathy and making a healthy connection is a key
